A traditional Chinese medicine bodywork technique, acupressure is the application of pressure rather than needles on specific points on the body to control symptoms such as pain or nausea. The treatment of pain is guided by the history of the pain, its intensity, duration. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by the elbow, or with various devices. A variant system is known as two-point acupressure attempts to bypass a blockage of vital flow by using one acupoint to create a link with one of the collateral meridians and then using one additional acupoint to stimulate or reduce the flow around the obstruction
